I've also noticed that at any given time I'm more likely to have Dolby Atmos available on my Apple TV 4K for a particular streamed movie on Disney+ than I am from my Shield TV or Android TV, particularly around peak times. Now that I have an Apple TV 4K I've found a lot of the movies in the iTunes store do have Dolby Atmos and cost only $7 to rent (with $2.99 and $0.99 specials), which is less than most of my 4K discs (which I'm also unlikely to watch more than once). However, the Dolby Surround upmixer on my AV receiver didn't really do a good enough job to substitute for a proper Dolby Atmos soundtrack.

Dolby Vision/HDR was less important for me, and 4K upscaling on a Shield TV got around the 1080P deficit. My argument for getting 4K Blu-ray movies was to get (uncompressed) Dolby Atmos soundtracks which are/were relatively hard to find via streaming. Which isn't to say that $11 isn't a good price as it is, but the RRP is misleading.Īt the end of the day, Amazon still prices better than JB and the sorts, their discount system is deceiving though (use Camelx3 and check out some other titles as well). I've followed their film prices daily for over 2 years and my point is that the large discount people think they're getting isn't actually the case. Amazon have added that RRP to entice people into buying a product which hasn't been that value at all on their site. Trolls will never go up to 29.96 in the same way that some of the titles listed for $13 won't go up to $30. The RRP is not the RRP Amazon were selling these products for before.
