I wonder if anyone else has noticed this.Best 20 Movie4k Alternative Websites for Movie Streaming 2019 For some reason, Disney downgrades the sound from Atmos to 5.1 for the Shield TV, which I've found very frustrating.

I've also noticed that at any given time I'm more likely to have Dolby Atmos available on my Apple TV 4K for a particular streamed movie on Disney+ than I am from my Shield TV or Android TV, particularly around peak times. Now that I have an Apple TV 4K I've found a lot of the movies in the iTunes store do have Dolby Atmos and cost only $7 to rent (with $2.99 and $0.99 specials), which is less than most of my 4K discs (which I'm also unlikely to watch more than once). However, the Dolby Surround upmixer on my AV receiver didn't really do a good enough job to substitute for a proper Dolby Atmos soundtrack.

Dolby Vision/HDR was less important for me, and 4K upscaling on a Shield TV got around the 1080P deficit. My argument for getting 4K Blu-ray movies was to get (uncompressed) Dolby Atmos soundtracks which are/were relatively hard to find via streaming. Which isn't to say that $11 isn't a good price as it is, but the RRP is misleading.Īt the end of the day, Amazon still prices better than JB and the sorts, their discount system is deceiving though (use Camelx3 and check out some other titles as well). So yeah, that's deceiving to put as an RRP and some will buy into it. The highest Captain Marvel has ever been on Amazon Australia is $39.98 (back at the start of 2019 shortly after it released). So don't think you're getting an 85% saving on Trolls (seeing as that's the film we're talking about) when that isn't the case.Īnd to add another example: Captain Marvel is listed at $11 at the moment and they've put the RRP as $53.07, stating that you're saving $42.07. I've followed their film prices daily for over 2 years and my point is that the large discount people think they're getting isn't actually the case. The highest Trolls has sold on Amazon Australia for is $17 not $29.96 (and that's just for that title alone). Amazon have added that RRP to entice people into buying a product which hasn't been that value at all on their site. Trolls will never go up to 29.96 in the same way that some of the titles listed for $13 won't go up to $30. The RRP is not the RRP Amazon were selling these products for before. Just my 2 cents on that savings ploy that Amazon does with discount What I'm talking about is what Amazon have been doing since May of 2020. The other titles above Mary Poppins, Dark Phoenix and Trolls are actually priced better.Įven still, their prices are better than the ones you can get at a retailer (especially if you're a prime member where you save on shipping). The $4.49 is still good for Trolls but not many people want that for the film, but for the 4k case itself. It's a smart ploy, but just pointing that out. That's why you don't see too many people jumping on the Disney titles for like $10 or some other titles for around $12 because they've actually been that price for a while, Amazon just adds like "was $29.96" to get you to buy it. I've been buying 4k discs from them for over 2 years and they seem to put a crazy discount percentage to entice people into buying when in reality, it's not actually that big a discount. X-Men: DARK PHOENIX: is $7.15 (temporarily OOS)Īnd a bunch of Disney titles for a few dollars more.Īmazon has been doing this savings tactic thing since like May of 2020 so you're not actually saving that much but rather maybe $3-4 at most. Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil (temporarily OOS) Maze Runner: The Death Cure: (Temporarily OOS) Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri: (temporarily OOS)Īlien (40th Anniversary): (temporarily OOS) Limited stock for some with the potential for backorder or restock.
